About , Confederate soldiers died in the war. Most died of disease, but others were killed during battle or died in prison camps or hospitals. Raymond W. Watkins copied Confederate burial records throughout the South, in prison camps, and in some Northern cemeteries. The following books may be helpful in locating death and burial information. The records are comprised of correspondence, research files, books, and printed material from a project to compile information on the Confederate veterans of the Civil War who are buried in Texas cemeteries. Sources include individuals, institutions, and organizations. The project includes an alphabetical ledger, files of contributor correspondence, and information filed by county name.

At the January meeting, Betty Bunn's ticket was drawn as the winner. Betty is pictured with Chapter President Lynda Lowery. This small project added a little more than $ to the Chapter's Flag Fund. Also at the January meeting, reprints of the Chapter's book, Confederate Veterans Buried in Cleburne County, Alabama, were issued to those who.   In Alabama undertook a census of all the Confederate veterans residing within its boundaries for the purposes of managing pension applications. It was an enumeration they repeated in The census recorded the veteran’s name, place of residence, birth date and birth place, enlistment and service details across all 67 Alabama counties.
